If you’re looking for videos then you’re best off filtering out all the images from your search. Luckily for you, Facebook gives us the ability to do this in their tool. 
Select Media Type = Video on the filter pop-up.

### Step 2: Press Play, Right Click and Save As
Once you’ve found the video you’re looking to swipe, press play and then pause. This loads the asset and allows you to engage with it. From there, right-click and select “save video as”. When you’re saving the file, make sure to save it as a .mp4 file. That way you can play it offline on most media players.

Using the Ad Library, you can track what your competitors are doing and adjust your marketing approach to stay ahead of the competition.

Here's how you can use the Facebook Ad Library to find inspiration and gain insights into your competitors' marketing:

## How to find the Facebook Ad Library

### Access the Ad Library via the Facebook Page: 
Go directly to a company or competitor’s Facebook page, navigate to the Page Transparency section further down and, from there, into the [Ad Library](https://www.facebook.com/ads/library/).

### Search for Competitor Ads:
Go to the Facebook Ad Library page and use the search function to find ads from your competitors by typing in their company name or keywords related to their products or services. Before searching for the company, you’ll need to set the location and Ad category. You can select from All Ads, Issues, elections or politics, Housing, Employment and Credit. When in doubt, your best bet is to choose all ads. While Facebook makes an effort to categorise them well, they often do not catch all creatives. Stick to All Ads.

## Filter Facebook Ad Library:
Take a close look at your competitors' ad creative and messaging. This will give you an idea of what they're trying to achieve and what they're focusing on. You can also see whether they're running these ads on other Meta platforms. 

From a filtering point of view, you can filter by Language, Platform, Media Type, Active Status and Date. The majority of these filters are self-explanatory, but there are four that deserve a closer view.

### Keyword Search:
Use this to find exact words and phrases within creatives. This is a great way to discover competitors or companies that aren’t on your radar. For example, searching for “car insurance” shows all those with related creatives. Combining this with a location allows you to see those in your target market. A pro tip, look at other geographies to see what those in the same industry elsewhere are using for their creatives.

### Platform Filter: 
You can filter by Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger. This filter will give you an idea of which platform your competitor finds most effective within Meta. Do you see they’re using more Instagram-only ads? You can assume they’ve seen better performance there. 

### Media Type Filter: 
You can filter by Images, Memes, Images and Memes, Videos, No Image or video. Again, as with the platform filter, you can assume that if your competitor skews towards one media type over another, they’re seeing more success there. 

### Active Status: 
Looking at the status of ads can also give you an insight on what works or doesn’t work for your competitors. With an active ad, you can assume it’s a creative that works well and resonates with the audience. Take this with a pinch of salt, as creatives often need to be refreshed to maintain performance on Facebook.


## Bonus Ways to Analyze Facebook Library Ads
These methods will require you to be more scientific and structured. You’ll need to [create a well-organized swipe file](https://yoinked.co/blog/what-is-a-swipe-file). Potentially bringing in a spreadsheet if you’re dealing with a large amount of ads. 

### Creative Themes and Messaging
Each creative you look at has a creative theme or message. When your competitor created the ad, they had a customer journey or emotion they intended to tap into. Are your competitors leaning heavily into reviews and social proof in their ads? Are they leaning towards FOMO or fear? Identifying the most common themes can help guide you in your Facebook ad strategy as you can assume they’ve learnt lessons and are implementing them.

### UTM Parameters 
Each ad on the Facebook library has a landing page URL. If the company you’re looking at is running their campaigns well, within their ad URLs, they will have UTM parameters.

?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=CON-PRO-AUTO_INSURANCE_VERTICAL-EN-CA&utm_content=Vertical-Auto_Insurance-Coverage

Looking at these UTM parameters, we can understand the competitor's campaign structure and target audience. For example, they have a campaign named “CON-PRO-AUTO_INSURANCE_VERTICAL-EN-CA” we can assume this means they have creatives that focus on the pros and cons of auto insurance, targeting English speakers in the Canadian market.

### Landing Pages
Similarly to the UTM parameters that a creative has, the individual landing page URLs contain insights. Looking at how often a URL appears in your competitors' Facebook Ads can infer how important or unimportant a product or service is in your competitor's eyes.

## Viewing Political Ads on Facebook

## How to find competitors Google Ads
When looking for a specific verified advertiser, the best place to start is with a Google search.
Search the company name you want more information on and look for the word “**Ad**” beside the first few results on the SERP. If this doesn’t work, try searching using variations of the brand’s name.

Once you have identified an ad, you can learn more about the advertiser by clicking the “why this ad?” gray drop-down arrow beside the company URL. Once clicked, this button will open the “about this ad” menu.

### Why can’t I see competitors’ Google ads?
Only companies that have completed the verification process will appear on the Google Ads Transparency page. If you cannot follow the steps mentioned above for a particular website, then Google has not verified this advertiser.

## Why should I use the TikTok Creative Centre?
TikTok can be a tricky platform to navigate for marketers. It’s like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube, but instead of colors, you’re working with the ever-changing algorithm, and instead of solving it once, you have to keep solving it over and over again.

Using their creative center you can stay on top of things, keep up to date on the top ad creatives in your industry, see what’s trending and even use their custom video editor tools to build your own TikTok videos, with music included. 

## How to use the TikTok Creative Center?

Generally speaking, you’ll want to have a vague idea of who your target audience and product is, if not, you’ve got bigger problems. The Creative Center is an ever-changing tool for an ever-changing platform, but as of writing this, there are 3 key sections.

## Inspiration

This section is where you come for inspiration for your next TikTok ad campaign. You can filter through the “Top Ads” on TikTok, note that it doesn’t cover all ads that are published and they’re not clear why specific creatives make the cut and others don’t. For example, this isn’t a great tool for spying on your competitors’ ads, unless they’re huge spenders. Nevertheless, you can still view ads that someone in Tiktok thinks is great. 

### Filtering and Searching to Find Relevant Ads

This is how you go about finding ads that fit your needs, there’s no needle in the haystack here, they’re all primo ads that are categorized and searchable by vertical and region, among others:

**Industry**
There are 21 core industries that TikTok allow you to filter through their library and countless subcategories within those industries. If your client or brand is in Beauty & Personal Care you should filter accordingly. 

**Country/Location**
You can narrow down the ad library by the country the creative is targeting. Naturally, you’ll probably want to see ads in your own language. As of today, we can filter to all countries that TikTok is live in. Notably, you can’t see Chinese creatives since that market uses [Douyin instead of TikTok](https://www.adchina.io/douyin-vs-tiktok/).  

**Objective**
In terms of objectives, you can filter by 6 primary objectives, App installs, Conversions, Lead Generation, Product sales, Reach, and Traffic. Using this filter will show you ads that run at different stages of a funnel, think, Top, Middle, and Bottom of the marketing funnel.

**Likes**
This one does what it says on the tin, you can see ads that are more liked than others. Watch out, though. Just because a creative has more likes and engagement doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better than others, they could just have a bigger budget.

**Duration**
Word on the street is that the best video length for a TikTok audience is between [10 - 15 seconds](https://piktochart.com/blog/ideal-video-length/). This duration allows you to narrow in on just that and any longer videos too. 

**Last Time Period**
You can filter in by time range, too, looking at the last 7 days, 30 days, and 180 days. Remember, though, that the TikTok user is fickle, and just because an ad theme worked months ago doesn’t mean it will work now. 

**Keyword and Search**
You can go crazy here and search for any keywords, brands, or products you’d like to see. They’ll also prompt you with creative themes, like Black Friday and Valentine’s Day.

**Bonus Tip**
Don’t just look at your industry, region, or competitors. Using the creative center is an opportunity for you to see what the best of the best do, and often times this is transferable across cultures and industries.

**CTR** - click-through rate of the video, calculated by the number of clicks divided by the number of impressions. 
**CVR** - this is the conversion rate, showing how many conversions happen compared to the video view rate
**Clicks** - showing when the most clicks on the creative happen
**Conversions** - this breaks down which time in the video has the most conversions 
**Remain** - this shows how main views remain after each time period

The US-based budget airline United has also joined the social media platform in hopes of gaining media attention. Well-known in the US, the real estate platform Zillow brings buyers and sellers together in one place. In this Facebook ad, thanks to the help of a staging company, they’ve used strong, colorful imagery to stand out in the feed of their potential clients. 
This ad was running in early Autumn, using deep orange colours and copy that references pumpkin spice lattes they’re striking a tone that matches the coming season. This is a particularly relevant ad to their target audience of young buyers.

## Concord Pacific

Rather than relying on listed ads, pre-build property developments more often than not lean on real estate Facebook ads. Concord Pacific does an excellent job of showcasing amenities that appeal to entirely different buyer audiences. It’s not all about driving leads immediately, in industries like real estate, sometimes you need to play the long game. Realtor.ca is doing just that, providing its target audience with content that helps them navigate the confusing process of buying or financing a home. Looking more at lower funnel customers, Redfin is offering a clear call to action for the user - tour this home in your area today. They use a call to action button of “Book Now”, while also displaying the exact asking price. Meaning that any lead that comes through this ad is a high-intent, warm prospect, well aware of the offer.

Flyhomes is another property technology company bringing buyers and sellers together on their platform. While a lot of targeting options are no longer available for real estate ads, one of those that is still allowed is targeting by the language of the user. 
Flyhomes are using Facebook to get in front of Mandarin speakers in the US, hitting a very specific audience with extremely relevant ad creative.

Corporate Finance Institute quickly grabbed the attention of LinkedIn users with its use of bold colors and real/stock team photos in single image ads.

A/B testing graphics, this different, indicates that Corporate Finance Institute were trying to identify a new brand direction for their paid digital ad campaigns.

Thanks to bright, eye-catching fonts and simple messaging, users can quickly understand what the ad is about and how it could improve their finance team’s skills.

This A/B test caught our eye for not only the famous faces but also the pictures appearing in scroll format. Borrowing a classic feature of social media platforms means that through familiarity, your eyes are pre-conditioned to lock onto graphics as you scroll by.

## Pluralsight Online Learning Ads

What we liked about this Pluralsight ad was the progress graphs in the image. This instantly shows the target audience (managers) that they can track employee progress and provides a glimpse of platform functionality.

Whether it is good or bad, another thing that stood out is how the laptop screen lights up the person in a dark room. This could be telling managers that online learning can be completed (or monitored) outside work hours, thus not affecting work goals.

Considering this ad promotes online learning, it is a good point to note the laptop is displaying the A Cloud Guru online dashboard. A cool trick to provide a sneak peek, but in this instance, what A Cloud Guru decided to display doesn’t provide much product value.

While the ad has eye-catching colors, it feels like elements have been included to fill space rather than provide real value to the ad.



>💡 **Tip:** Unless you are planning a remarketing campaign, some would recommend to avoid price in ad graphics as it can negatively affect CTR.

## Datacamp Online Learning Ads

The final ads come from DataCamp and promote two separate sales. The language used in these ads, combined with the announcement of a sale, would indicate that these ads serve a remarketing audience.

The ads certainly get the message across but aren’t setting any records for creativity. The first ad has missed an opportunity to include any features or benefits which might help secure a click. In addition, a start and end date is usually a key piece of information people look for when browsing a sale.
